The conference "Global Humanitarian Approach to Craniofacial Deformities in the World", organized by Operation Smile, took place in the Sala della Regina at Palazzo Montecitorio. The proceedings were opened with a message from the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Mr Gianfranco Fini.
Speakers included: Mr Santo Versace, Chairman of Operation Smile Italia, Mr Domenico Scopelliti, Medical Director of Operation Smile Italia, Ms Maria Luisa Campo, Expert with the Directorate General of Development Cooperation, Mr Randolph Sherman from Operation Smile, Mr Raul Barcelò, World Craniofacial Foundation, Mr Paolo Morselli, Interethnos Interplast Italia, Mr Andrea Di Francesco, Project “Smiles in the World”, Ms Domenica Taruscio, National Centre for Rare Diseases at the Higher Health Institute, representatives of Associations of parents whose children suffer from cleft lip and palatoschisis, and Ms Francesca Martini, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Health.
